Top 10 selling sedans in May 2017 saw new Maruti Dzire heading the charts as its predecessor while Tigor beat Amaze and Etios again
The leading position in the best-selling sedans list for the month of May encountered Dzire continuing its strong momentum as the brand welcomes an all-new generation of the compact sedan. With it being successful among fleet operators and family-oriented buyers, Maruti Suzuki is targeting big sales yet again with the new Dzire. A total of 9,413 units were sold last month.
In identical fashion to the premium hatchback segment where Baleno and Elite i20 fight closer to each other, the B-segment arena for sedans has seen Ciaz and City tussling tooth and nail from the very beginning. In May 2017, Ciaz had the upper hand over the new facelift of City. It led the Japanese sedan by well over 650 units.

Fourth was the facelifted Xcent subcompact sedan that always plays second-fiddle to the Maruti Swift Dzire. With a total sale of 3,804 units, the Xcent is doing pretty good in ringing the registers in second position in its segment ahead of the recently launched Tata Tigor.
The brand new Tigor sedan has instantly impressed following its launch as 3,638 units were delivered in April 2017 and it has backed it up with 2,344 units of sales last month. It has bunched up the competition in the already tight field and got past Etios and Amaze yet again – positioned seventh and ninth respectively.
The Tigor finished two places above the Zest which swept 1,356 examples of sale last month and was down in eighth. Ford’s capable Figo Aspire sedan started 2017 on a positive note with 2,470 units but the momentum has slightly faded away but nevertheless it ended up sixth still with 1,669 units.
Volkswagen launched its maiden India-specific Ameo sedan last year and it wrapped up the sales table chart with 926 examples being sold.
