Top 10 selling premium cars of December 2015 saw Mercedes C class on top ahead of main rival Audi A4, Merc E Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6

The best selling model in the premium luxury car segment has been Mercedes C class for the month of December, 2015. The German manufacturer has sold 465 units of C class, which is a 6% growth compared to the same month the previous year with 440 examples. The C class’ popularity never waned and it seems like the upcoming Jaguar XE – well-received in foreign markets – will give a fierce competition to the entry-level premium luxury sedan from Mercedes-Benz as Jaguar enters new segment with a lot of expectations and a sporty car powered by a new family of engines.

Also encountering the same level of 6% growth compared to December 2014, the C class’ main rival Audi A4 has been retailed as similar to the former with 435 units. This suggests the A4 has maintained its credentials in the market where the BMW 3 Series floundered. The E Class comes third on the December sales list as the top-selling product of its segment bettering the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series with a surge of 15% – 415 units sold in December 2015 against 360 in the previous month of 2014. To climb through the ranks, more has been expected from the new-generation E Class which is about to be unveiled at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show and could soon make its way into our domestic market.

The 5 Series and its GT version have combined to pull off 236 units last month to finish the year as the best-selling BMW vehicle at fourth – 5% increase against 225 units in December 2014. The 5 Series’ key rival Audi A6 has completed December 2015 with 225 units at a 2% growth in comparison to the same month in 2014 where it managed 220 units. They will lock horns again in 2016 and one cannot predict the clear winner just yet.

The most sold premium luxury SUV at the end of December has been BMW X1 with 154 units against 149 at a 3% growth and thus maintained its consistency in the market by finishing sixth. Coming in at seventh is the BMW 3 Series after enduring 149 units of sales in the closing month of 2015 which is against 145 at a 3% development compared to December 2014.
