The Hero Splendor is the ultimate leader of the Indian two-wheeler industry in terms of selling numbers as it has demonstrated over the years. The affordable commuter from Hero Moto Corp stays in at pole as 2,24,238 units were sold at a YoY growth of 14 per cent in April 2016 – nearly twice as much as the nearest competitor.

The expected launch of the in-house built iSmart 110 will only further prop up the sales of Splendor. The other three Hero motorcycles in the sales chart are HF Deluxe, Passion and Glamour in second, third and fourth respectively. At a tremendous 32 per cent surge, the HF Deluxe went past Passion with 1,16,567 units – the only other vehicle crossing the lakh mark in April.

With 98,976 units, Hero Passion endured 17 per cent drop in sales while at 29 per cent growth compared to April 2015, the Glamour carved the top four for the largest Indian two-wheeler maker. Besides the regular CT100 and Pulsar series, the recently launched V15 150cc commuter motorcycle has entered the chart and is more likely to stay here in the bottom half in the upcoming months. Exceeding well above its expectations, the marketing jibe Bajaj conducted received a blockbuster response as the V15 was made from scrap metal of the INS Vikrant warship – the first Indian aircraft carrier that fought and won honours against Pakistan in 1971.

At 24,057 units, the 150cc V15 commuter rounded out the sales chart at the end of April 2016.
