Top 10 selling hatchbacks in September 2016 saw newly launched products like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Renault Kwid and Tata Tiago doing good numbers

Majority of the vehicles in the top ten selling hatchbacks list for the month of September also best-sellers in the Indian market as the customers’ craze towards small and affordable cars has never faded away. The manufacturer that took the most advantage of the market scenario is none other than the leading car maker, Maruti Suzuki.

The entry-level volume piling model, Alto, is the obvious leader in the entire hatchback space as it decimated the competition for years and years. The Indo-Japanese company has managed to sell a total of 27,750 units in September to repeatedly take honours as the best-selling vehicle in India.

Behind the Alto is the ever-popular Swift hatchback whose new generation with an evolutionary yet modern design is expected to arrive during the second half of next year. When it comes out the chances of the sales to skyrocket is even high. Running closer to the Swift in third was the tall-riding WagonR as only 99 units separated both the Maruti products.

Hyundai’s highest selling vehicles along with the Creta are the Grand i10 and the i20 premium hatchback. The Swift-rivalling i10 hatchback has managed o garner 12,212 examples last month to stand at fourth ahead of the premium Baleno. The latter carried on the success story of the brand ever its launch less than a year ago.

Renault Kwid 1.0L (1000cc) Review-24

Slotting in at fifth, the sales of Baleno has been going steadily every month as 10,623 units were retailed in September 2016. Renault’s ace product in the domestic market is undoubtedly the Kwid small hatchback. With an affordable package, it’s been one of the biggest hits recently among customers and in September 10,558 cars were sold to become the sixth largest selling hatchback in India.

It is widely known that the entry of Baleno has caused a stir in Elite i20’s sales but the buyers preferring this premium hatchback is always on a high as it’s the last vehicle to gather over 10,000 monthly units in the list. The entry-level Celerio, recently launched Tiago and Hyundai Eon cover the last three positions for the month of September.
