Maruti Celerio X (Cross) Launched In India - Price, Engine, Specs, Features, Interior 3

In the list of top 10 selling hatchbacks in March 2018, Maruti Suzuki made its presence felt with five of its popular models as usually

The main advantage of Maruti Suzuki is indeed its wide range of entry-level cars in the mass market segments. Almost all of them are hatchbacks that have been present for years and others are new products making a name for themselves. Standing evident with the Indo-Japanese brand’s popularity among customers is the list of top-selling hatchbacks monthly.

In the third month of 2018, Maruti Suzuki’s five popular hatchbacks feature in the top ten and all of them are pretty much mainstay in the charts. Heading the table is the Alto small hatchback that stayed ahead of the Swift and Baleno with a total of 23,303 units.

The second-placed Swift – 19,207 units in March 2018 – is expected to register even higher numbers courtesy of the new generation version. The ever increasing popularity of Baleno goes on to show the customers’ affinity towards premium vehicles in recent times. Looking at the entire list, it is easy to get carried away by the dominance of Maruti and Hyundai hatchbacks but growth potential can be visualized due to the existence of Tiago and Kwid.

When priced rightly with good features and fuel-efficient engines, for instance, Tata and Renault have their bestselling vehicles in the affordable hatchback space. The Tiago entered the market with a brand new design along with good equipment level and reaped benefits.

With the SUV-esque exterior and a feature-packed interior, the Kwid takes credits for Renault’s success locally in the last two years. Both followed same strategy to become VFM products in their segments. The Tata Tiago outsmarted Celerio, Eon and Kwid to be positioned seventh with a total of 8,123 deliveries. The Maruti Suzuki Celerio, which brought the affordable AMT to the masses, completed in eighth with 7,395 units last month.

Although Kwid finished ninth with 5,853 units, its popularity in recent months has been on a downward curve. Hyundai Eon has had a roller coaster ride but it’s still the best seller for the Korean brand in the entry-level space and complements sales of popular vehicles like the Grand i10, Elite i20 and Creta.
