The sales chart at the end of May 2016 saw Maruti Suzuki’s newly launched products making their presence felt. The Baleno premium hatchback and Vitara Brezza compact SUV have all the traces of staying here for long. Thus, Maruti Suzuki’s domination in the top ten will further be consolidated as like last month. With seven products, the leading car maker in the country concluded yet another auspicious month of May.
Amidst the Indo-Japanese manufacturer’s success, the biggest casualty turned out to be Renault Kwid, which was predicted to enter in to top four, certainly fell back to 13 th position by wrapping only 5,600 units. Among the top four, only WagonR encountered a 6 per cent YoY growth while the rest composing of Alto, Swift Dzire and Swift have managed 12%, 14% and 28% drop in sales.
The Alto took the honours at the top with 19,874 units ahead of Dzire at 16,968, WagonR at 13,231 and Swift at 12,355. The two stalemate Hyundai products in the top ten were Grand i10 and Elite i20. The Grand i10 has recorded a sale of 12,055 units last month with an appreciable YoY surge of 19 per cent.

The Vitara Brezza compact SUV had been sold by over 100 units compared to Hyundai Creta. With 7,193 examples delivered, the Vitara Brezza has emerged as the new segment leader in SUV space. Perhaps the biggest surprise in the top ten was the debut of Toyota’s recently launched Innova Crysta MPV. The second-gen Innova took us all by surprise when we drove and it’s more likely to stay in this level in the proceeding months.
