In Top 10 Selling Cars In May 2015, 5 Maruti, 4 Hyundai & 1 Honda
Top 10 selling cars are usually the one which we see on the road in bulk and the same things depict on sales chart too. However sometimes there are exceptions. We have the list of cars which made it to the top despite being on the road and vice versa.
There is no doubt Maruti Suzuki rules to roost along with Hyundai. Helping Maruti Suzuki is the entry-level hatchback, Alto, that has returned as the highest-selling car in the country in May 2015 by selling 22,595 units when compared to 17311 units sold in the same month last year, which means this top-selling car recorded 31% hike in sales YoY in May 2015. Next in the list are Maruti sibling such as Dzire, Swift and WagonR in that order.
Korean carmaker Hyundai is not left behind and the compact sedan, the Xcent, has returned to the list of top 10 selling cars in April after a gap of seven months and has retained its place in the month of May as well but at the last spot by selling 4,871 units. However, Xcent saw a 37% decline in sales in May 2015 over the same month previous year as competition is seriously stiff in the sub 4-meter sedan category with upcoming Ford Aspire and popular kid on the block, the Tata Zest.
However, Hyundai managed to come next after Maruti Suzuki when it comes to ranking with their popular hatchbacks such as Grand i10 and Elite i20 while and Eon comes 9’th in the list.

From Korea to Japan, Honda Amaze continues to remain out of the list for the second time since April. The compact sedan’s sales declined by 22% in May 2015 by selling 3,699 units compared to 4,752 units in May 2014. Meanwhile, the Honda City has touched the 7000 mark by selling 7562 which shockingly outsold the cheaper Celerio and out thrown its competition the Hyundai Verna completely.
