Top 10 selling cars in January 2018 witnessed Maruti Suzuki Dzire getting the better of Alto once again as it led by over 3,400 units

As usually, Maruti Suzuki has had another auspicious month in sales as six out of ten cars in the chart were from the Indo-Japanese manufacturer and importantly swept the top five positions. However, unlike the regular scenario, the Alto entry-level hatchback had been beaten once again by none other than the latest Dzire.

While a total of 19,134 units were registered for Alto, Maruti managed to sell 22,540 of the subcompact sedan to be on top. The latest generation Dzire with a new exterior, reliable engine lineup and improved features list has kicked off the new-year well indeed.

The WagonR ended up behind the Baleno and Swift. The premium hatchback, at third, recorded 17,770 units as it continues to beat Hyundai Elite i20. The latter having received a facelift at the 2018 Auto Expo could alter proceedings in the coming months.

The pair of vehicles that significantly garner sales for Hyundai always in the market are the Grand i10 and the Elite i20. Based on the Euro-spec i10, the Grand received a facelift at the beginning of last year and is doing pretty well.

At the end of Jan 2018, the Swift rival registered 12,109 units to slot in at sixth ahead of the Vitara Brezza. With Elite i20 in eighth, its bigger sibling Creta ended up ninth with 9,284 units. The constant sales growth of SUVs was approved by Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Creta in the top 10 while newcomers like Tata Nexon and Honda WR-V have been reaping benefits of being good packages as well.
