9Renault Kwid AMT
French auto giant Renault truly started a revolution with its Kwid compact hatchback in the Indian market. Within a very short span after launch, the Renault Kwid became immensely popular in the domestic market. This car alone has helped Renault to become a major auto manufacturer in the country’s PV market. Also, India became one of the top five global markets for the brand thanks to overwhelming popularity of the Kwid. Initially launched in 0.8-litre variant, the Kwid later received a 1.0-litre petrol engine and an AMT as well that certainly enhanced its appeal further.
The Renault Kwid AMT is available only with the 1.0-litre engine and it is available priced between Rs. 3.79 lakh and Rs. 4.53 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Apart from the RXL and RXT, the Kwid Climber too comes with AMT gearbox. The Renault Kwid AMT gets power from a 1.0-litre three-cylinder SCe petrol engine and it is capable of churning out 67 bhp of peak power at 5,500 rpm and 91 Nm of peak torque at 4,250 rpm. This car delivers a fuel efficiency of 24.04 kmpl.
While the power output and torque output along with the fuel efficiency are really impressive, Kwid’s popularity has been driven by its design and the class leading features as well. The Renault Kwid carries a SUV like stance blended well with the compact hatchback’s characteristics. Dimensionally, this car is compact, and design wise the muscular style grabs attention at the very first glimpse. Overall, it appears like a micro SUV and this design language created a burning trend in the country.
Speaking about its style, the car gets large headlamps, an aggressive looking front grille with the diamond pattern logo at the centre. The front bumper gets a chunky black cladding and a faux skid plate. At the side profile, Renault Kwid sports black cladding giving it a crossover like stance. Moving to the rear fascia, the wraparound taillights, muscular bumper and a lifted back look conclude the car’s overall attractive appearance.
Inside the cabin, Renault Kwid comes offering some class leading features like a fully digital display at the instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system at the centre console. These certainly enhance the car’s appeal further. The top variant gets a driver airbag, while the space on offer is pretty good. Despite being a small car, it offers generous headroom and leg space to the occupants and the boot storage capacity is also pretty attractive.
