Maruti Suzuki Dzire recorded 10,132 units in April 2023 as against 10,701 units during the same period last year with a YoY negative sales growth of 5 per cent

In the month of April 2023, Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire finished on top of the sedan sales charts with a domestic tally of 10,132 units as against 10,701 units during the same period last year with a YoY negative sales growth of 5 per cent. The Hyundai Aura was the second most sold sedan in India last month as 5,085 units were recorded.

In comparison to the corresponding period in 2022 with 4,035 units, a YoY sales increase of 26 per cent was noted. The new generation Hyundai Verna finished in the third position with a domestic total of 4,001 units against 781 units in April 2022 with a massive YoY sales growth of 412 per cent. Only a few weeks ago, the all-new Verna made its debut.

It gets a thoroughly updated exterior and interior while a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 160 PS and 253 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a six-speed iMT or a seven-speed DCT. The features list has also been upgraded with new technologies including ADAS-based driver assistive and safety features.

The Honda Amaze finished in the fourth position with a total of 3,393 units as against 4,467 units during the same period last year with a YoY negative volume growth of 24 per cent. The Tata Tigor finished in the fifth position with 3,154 units against 3,802 units with a YoY sales decline of 17 per cent in India.

In the second half of the table, Honda’s fifth generation City could only finish sixth with a total of 1,920 units as against 2,300 units with a YoY sales de-growth of 17 per cent. The Skoda Slavia and VW Taigun will have new variants launched sometime next month. The former finished seven with a total of 1,586 units against 2,431 units.

This led to a YoY sales drop of 35 per cent while the latter managed a total of 1,481 units. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz posted 1,071 units last month as against 579 units in April 2022 with a YoY growth of 76 per cent while the Skoda Superb rounded out the top ten with 121 unit sales.
