The second-placed Chevrolet Beat is exported to major locations in South America and its volume has increased by nearly 13,000 units in comparison to FY17

Ford India continues its stronghold of maintaining the lead in the export charts with the EcoSport subcompact SUV. Compared to the previous financial year, the American auto giant has managed to ship more than 11,000 units of EcoSport from India in FY2017-18.

At a total of 90,599 units, the India-made EcoSport is sold in several developed countries worldwide. Coming in at second is from the brand that pulled its strings off local sales in India. The Chevrolet Beat produced in Pune is exported to major locations in South America including Argentina and Chile and its volume increased by nearly 13,000 units in comparison to FY2016-17 despite quitting the domestic market.

The small hatchback, with 83,140 exports cumulatively over the period of 12 months, overtook Volkswagen Vento by 6,135 units and dispossessed the German sedan from second position it held back in FY17. A couple of other Ford vehicles featured in this list are Figo and its Aspire sibling.

The former slotted in at fourth with 61,241 units and the latter managed 29,308 at ninth. Despite the shrinking sales of both the models in domestic market, their export game is evidently too strong to ignore. Hyundai’s Creta and Grand i10 are placed fifth and sixth with 50,820 and 44,907 units respectively.

Maruti Suzuki has its Baleno premium hatchback as the most exported model from India with 41,433 units. Nissan’s plant in Tamil Nadu had been responsible for exporting 34,075 Sunnys to foreign countries last fiscal while Maruti Suzuki Ignis wrapped up the chart at tenth position with 22,969 units.
