Top 10 Losers in September 2015 in India – Car Sales Analysis

All the Cars In Top 10 Losers in September 2015 list, are doing very good numbers, but back to back launches of new car hurts all of these.

Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai Santa Fe is one of the most stylish 7 Seater SUV in India, despite it got minor feature update earlier this year, it fails to get buyers in good numbers. As it belongs to the Premium SUV Segment where Toyota Fortuner is king of the segment.

Last year in the same month, Hyundai India retailed 135 Santa Fe’s where, this year, only 56 SUV’s retailed and register the 59% declined in YOY sales.

Chevrolet Cruze

2016 Chevrolet Cruze is due for launch in the coming month and hence, as expected, the current version doesn’t perform well in terms of sales. Once a time, the Chevrolet Cruze is the most talked subject in enthusiasts due to the power it offers. After the Re-launch of Octavia in India, Chevrolet Cruze faces the most downfall in sales.

In the same month last year, 131 units of Cruze sold compared to 49 Cruze’s sold this September, a 63% downfall registered in this September.

Nissan Sunny

India’s one of the best budget chauffeur driven car with good design, space and mileage, Nissan Sunny is not getting good number of buyers in India. With the Introduction of Maruti Ciaz with the equivalent leg space, Honda City, Skoda Rapid are the some of the option customer prefer over Nissan Sunny.

Nissan India retailed 152 units of Sunny against the 428 units sold last year, registers a 64% downfall in September 2016. The numbers also hinting towards a facelift is on the way and Nissan could announce the same very soon.

Chevrolet Sail Sedan

Chevrolet retailed only 232 units of Sail Sedan compared to 690 units retailed in the same month last year, and registers the downfall of 66%. Despite the quality it offers in terms of design and interiors, it failed to attract the buyers in India.

Nissan Terrano

Nissan Terrano, the India’s most muscular looking SUV isn’t doing good numbers due to many reasons, one is the entry of Hyundai Creta and Maruti S-cross into the segment while other and the main reason is the premium Nissan charges over its cousin ‘ Renault Duster’. Duster is still doing better than Terrano.

Last year in the same month, Nissan India retailed impressive 1768 units while this year, while only 533 units retailed, a 70% downfall is registered compared to last year.

Renault Duster

Post the launch of Hyundai Creta and Maruti S-cross, Renault Duster sales hurt the most, before that, Renault is almost sold over 3500+ units each month from the launch month but now situation is different.

Last year, 3410 units of Duster retailed while this year, only 1009 units retailed and register a 70% downfall in sales.

Maruti Suzuki Gypsy

One of the most iconic SUV from the India’s no.1 car manufacturer, Maruti Gypsy is facing downfall in sales continuously from couples of months. From last 2 decades, Maruti Gypsy is only been seen with Military and Police personal and very rarely, it was seen as a private car. The main reasons why it has seen a major downfall in monthly sales, is related to the modernization of police and force department and hence, resulted in introduction of Innova, Tavera and Bolero.

Last year, 308 units of Gypsy retailed while this year, only 86 units retailed, registered a 72% downfall in sales.

Hyundai Elantra

The Hyundai Elantra, a pure Korean package from isn’t doing the numbers despite the styling it offers, space and fuel efficiency. Due to not much performance on offer with average dynamics and isn’t fun to drive is the points for people to go towards German rival over this.

Skoda Octavia becomes the segment best seller even with 3 year old model, In the same month last year, 325 units of Hyundai Elantra sold compared to 85 units of this year and hence, a 74% of downfall registered in sales.

Chevrolet Sail U-VA

Like the Sedan version, Chevrolet Sail U-VA hatch also failed to achieve the attention of buyers in India. As, Chevrolet retailed only 104 units of Sail U-VA hatchback compared to 476 units retailed in the same month last year, and registers the downfall of 78%.

Honda Mobilio

Honda’s only car in India in MPV segment is Mobilio as it sold over 5,000 units every month in the initial month of launch. But, due to the limited production capability of Honda Car India and re-introduction of Jazz, Mobilio and Amaze production affected.

Last year in the same month, Honda retailed 5,329 units of Mobilio while this year, only 643 units retailed resulting, A very high 88% declined in sales.
