Hyundai officially launched the new Santro late last year and it retains the tall boy design theme from its predecessor. The hatchback comes with lots of segment first features to lure buyers from its competitors. In this article, we take a look at the top 10 features of new Santro.
1. Tall Boy Design
Hyundai has given the signature tall boy design theme of earlier Santro to the new model also and the design took some inspirations from the Grand i10. The front gets new grille of Hyundai along with swept-back headlamps and big fog lamps, which gives a wider car feel for the hatchback while the rear comes with new tail lamps and a revised bumper.
2. Modern Interior
Like the exterior, the interior also took some inspiration from other Hyundai models and it looks modern as the company has given new three-spoke steering wheel and a feature-packed instrument cluster. The air-vents design is unique and it can be customized with different colour options to match the exterior. The quality of materials is also good compared to competitors.
3. Touch Screen Infotainment
The top end variant of Santro comes with segment first 7-inch touch screen infotainment system and it gets the latest software of Hyundai. The company has also given Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity with this system along with Bluetooth. The system can be controlled using voice commands also.
4. Rear AC Vents
The Santro is the first model in its segment to come with rear AC vents and it will make the cabin cool quickly. This will be one of the most useful features in the Santro and except base variant, all other variant comes with it.
5. Rear Camera With Parking Sensors
Hyundai has given rear camera with parking sensors on the top end variant of Santro. The output from the camera will be displayed on the touch screen infotainment system in the centre console but it misses out on guidelines.
6. Advanced MID Display
The hatchback gets 6.35 cm advanced multi-information display as standard on all variant and it comes with features like dual trip meter, average fuel consumption, average speed, instant fuel consumption, distance to empty, service reminder and time elapsed.
7. Platform
The new Santro is based on the revised BA platform of Grand i10 and it is made from 63 per cent high strength steel. The engineers have made some changes to make it stronger as the hatchback need to comply with the upcoming safety norms.
8. Safety Features
The safety features on the new Santro includes dual airbags (driver side airbag standard), ABS with EBD, Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, Impact Sensing Auto Door Unlock, Child Safety Door Locks, Centre locking, Engine Immobilizer, front fog lamps and rear defogger.
9. Engine
Hyundai is offering Santro with a single petrol engine and CNG option also. The 1.1 L petrol engine produces 69 PS of power at 5,500 rpm and 99 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. The CNG variant produces 59 PS at 5,500 rpm and 84 Nm at 4,500 rpm.
10. Hyundai’s first AMT Model
Hyundai finally introduced its first AMT gearbox with the new Santro and it is one of the best AMT gearbox in its segment. The hatchback also comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox option also. According to ARAI, both manual and AMT returns 20.3 Km/l.
