2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift gets exterior makeover, interior tweaks and new equipment additions along with improved safety
Maruti Suzuki has today launched the long-awaited Ciaz facelift in the Indian market and here we have listed its top 10 features:
1. New Petrol Engine: 1.5 L
Maruti Suzuki has ousted the 1.4-litre K14B petrol engine with the newly developed 1.5-litre K15B petrol SHVS engine that will make its way into other vehicles in the domestic fleet eventually.
2. More Power and Torque: 104 PS/ 138 NM
Due to the new engine’s presence and the associated mild-hybrid tech, 13 percent more power and 6 percent increased torque are produced.
The K15B four-cylinder petrol unit is good enough to produce 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of peak torque delivered at 4,400 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.

3. First-Ever Petrol SHVS Tech:
Maruti Suzuki says the SHVS mild-hybrid system is of the next generation and is offered right from the entry-level variants. It enables brake energy recuperation, idling start/stop and torque assist in the facelifted Ciaz. It is the first time a petrol SHVS system is offered by the Indo-Japanese manufacturer.

4. Improved Styling: Sleeker headlamps
The updated 2018 Ciaz has become more appealing especially up front as it is sharper and more elegant. The sleeker headlamps are accompanied by multi-pixel upper front grille, revised bumper, LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and LED fog lamps with new housing complementing the chrome garnish.
It also features two-tone 16-inch precision cut alloy wheels with Metallic Pebble Grey finish and the rear has upgraded LED combination lamps and chrome garnish on the bumper.
5. Updated Interior: 4.2-inch Colour MID
The interior largely remains unaltered as the updated cabin adorns Birch blonde wood grain accents with a glossy finish. The new instrument panel gains 4.2-inch colour Multi Information Display. The same dual-tone beige and black colour theme has been carried forward.
6. Added Features List: LED Fog Lights, Cruise Control
The notable features are adjustable rear seat headrests, cruise control function, 16-inch alloy wheels in the top-spec Alpha trim, 15-inchers in Delta and Zeta, LED fog lamps and integrated Daytime Running Lights in Zeta and Alpha variants.
7. Best-In-Class Mileage: Upto 28.09 Kmpl
The ARAI certified fuel economy of the five-speed manual petrol is 21.56 kmpl, up from 20.73 kmpl, while the four-speed automatic variants is claimed to return 20.28 kmpl (19.12 kmpl in old version). The DDiS 200 1.3-litre diesel engine continues to have 28.09 kmpl rated efficiency.
8. Dual Battery Setup: More Mileage
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the first vehicle from the brand to feature a dual battety setup. The lead acid battery only powers the AC and headlamps while the Li-ion battery is responsible for supplying juice to engine electrical parts such as instrument cluster and music system among others.
9. Competitive Price: Upto 3 Lakh Cheaper than Competition
The newly launched Ciaz is sold in 11 different variants and comes priced between Rs. 8.19 lakh and Rs. 10.97 lakh (ex-showroom). Compared to its main rivals, the range-topping model is Rs. 3.2 lakh cheaper than City, and around Rs. 2 lakh less expensive compared to Verna while the Yaris is little over Rs. 3 lakh dearer.
10. Top-Notch Safety Features: Electronic Stability Program
The refreshed equipment list comprises of ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Hill Assist and Cruise Control standard in all automatic variants. The largest automaker in the country includes dual front airbags and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) standard across the range.
Furthermore, it gets reverse parking sensors, seatbelt reminder warning for the driver as well as co-passengers, speed alert system that will be activated at speeds of above 120 kmph.
