MG Motor is going to launch its first product in India later this year and it is christened as Hector. The upcoming model will be based on the Boajun 530, which is currently on sale in the Chinese market and it will be manufactured at the Halol plant in Gujarat. The Hector will be localized heavily to keep cost down and it will be packed with lots of features. In this article, we are featuring the expected top 10 features of the Hector SUV going to rival cars like XUV500, Honda CR-V, Tata Hexa & Hyundai Creta.

1. Panoramic Sunroof

In recent times, the sunroof is one of the most popular features among customers even though it is not ideal for our climate conditions. The Hector comes with an electrically operated large panoramic sunroof. We can expect it to be available only in the top end variant.

2. Digital Coloured Speedometer

The upcoming Hector SUV might come with a 7-inch LCD screen for the digital instrument cluster to make it stand out from the competition. The speedometer is on the right side and tachometer on the left, while the vehicle information is displayed in the middle and it can be customized also.

3. 5&7 Seat Layout

The Hector is based on the Baojun 530 and we can expect dimensions to be same. Baojun recently introduced 7-seater configuration for the 530 in the Chinese market. Initially, the Hector will come as a 5-seater and later the company will introduce the 7-seater model.

 

4. 360 Degree Camera

The Hector will come with a segment-first 360-degree camera system and it helps especially in parking conditions. The 360-degree camera comes with four networked short range camera’s in which one is placed at the front and rear while the other two on the mirrors. In the infotainment screen, the driver can select individual camera view also.

MG is expected to offer the same 1.5 L turbocharged petrol engine from Boajun 530 in Hector. The petrol engine produces 149.56 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque with 6-speed gearbox and 150.93 PS and 250 Nm with a CVT automatic transmission.

6. 2.0 L Diesel Engine

The Hector will also come with a diesel engine, which is sourced from FCA and it will be the same 2.0 L unit, which does duty on Compass and Harrier. This engine puts out 171 hp of power at 3,750 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. MG is expected to offer the Hector with the option of 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options.

7. Start-Stop Mild Hybrid System

MG Motor might introduce a mild-hybrid system, which comes with auto start and stop function as it helps the SUV to return better mileage. We can expect this system to be introduced in both petrol and diesel engine.

8. Segment Best Dimensions

The Hector is expected to come with segment best dimensions as the SUV is based on the Boajun 530. The upcoming SUV could measure 4655 mm length, 1835 mm width and 1760 mm height. The wheelbase of Hector 530 is expected to be 2,750 mm. We can also expect good boot space also.

9. Leather Seats

The upcoming SUV will also come with leather seats, which gives a premium feel for the cabin as they are benchmarking the cabin of Hector against the Hyundai Tucson and lower spec model will get fabric seats.
