Tata Tiago was launched after lot of drama in last few months. Now the latest hatchback offering from the Tata Motors has become the best selling Tata model in April 2016. The car has sold a total of 3022 units leaving behind the other models like Tata Vista/Manza, Zest, Nano, Sumo, Safari and Tata Bolt.
The second best model in the Tata Motor’s stable is the Tata Vista/Manza, which has sold 1581 models in April 2016. Behind that the other cars are Tata Zest, Nano Sumo, Safari and Bolt with sales figures of 1419 units, 1100 units, 814 units, 539 units and 290 units respectively. Not a single unit of Tata Aria has been sold. The automaker is all set to launch the redesigned Aria aka Tata Hexa in short time although.
Since the compact hatchback has been unveiled for the first time later in 2015, Tata Motors has been heavily marketing the car. They even roped in the football living legend Lionel Messi as the brand ambassador of the Tiago. Initially the compact hatchback was named as Zica, but later the Indian origin automaker had to change the name due to the outspread of ZiKa virus in Brazil.
Tata Tiago comes with a new design language called IMPACT, which will be seen in future Tata Motor’s vehicles. Power sources for the car is 1.2 litre three cylinder petrol and a 1.05 litre three cylinder diesel engine. The petrol engine is paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox and churns out 85 PS of peak power and 114 Nm of peak torque. It delivers 23.84 kmpl of fuel economy. The diesel engine on the other hand also gets mated to a 5 speed manual transmission which generates 70 PS of peak power and 140 Nm of peak torque. The diesel variant of Tata Tiago delivers 27.28 kmpl of fuel economy. The Tata Tiago is priced between Rs. 3.20 lakh to Rs. 5.54 lakh depending on variants.
