This is the India’s First Tesla Model X 100D All Electric SUV with 450 KM Range

India is finally home to the all-electric Tesla Model X 100D SUV and can hit 100 kmph from a standstill in just 5 seconds

While this isn’t the first-ever Tesla Model X in India, it’s definitely the first 100D variant of the globally-acclaimed all-electric SUV to come to our shores. The Tesla Model X that was imported into India a few months ago by Prashant Ruia, of the Essar group, is the P 90D model.

In comparison, the 100D lags a fair bit in terms of outright performance. That said, the 100D isn’t a slouch. It can hit 100 kmph from a standstill in just 5 seconds. This is, quite frankly, comparable to the kind of straight-line performance most of the modern-day sportscars offer.

Of course, its powertrain is an all-electric unit, which should keep the Greenpeace quite happy. Its twin electric motors get their juice from lithium ion batteries. The all-electric Tesla Model X 100D tips the scales at 2.5 tons. The vehicle has an all-wheel drive system, with a motor placed at the each of the axles.

The Model X 100D can hit a top speed of 250 kmph, which is, again, sportscar territory. More importantly, it offers a driving range of 475 kms, which makes it very practical for daily usage by its ultra-owner. Currently, the Model X is made in the United States only. In the US, the 100D variant of this SUV has been priced at USD 96,000, which is equal to approximately INR 65 lakh.

However, importing this car to India would have incurred really high duties, which would have made the car pricier by more than 125 percent. Details of the owner aren’t available at the moment. All that’s known right now is that this Tesla Model X 100D has been bought by someone in Mumbai.

We’ve already started digging for more details and will update you with more information as soon as we manage to lay our hands on some.
