Can-Am Spyder is a reverse trike that must have cost a whopping Rs 50 lakh; only one example is known to exist in India
Can-Am is a popular Canadian company that produces and sells some of the most outlandish vehicles in the world. One of them is the Spyder, which is a reverse trike. Of course, the Can-Am Spyder is not on sale in the country but a new video reveals that we’ve finally got at least one example of the exciting vehicle in the country.
The Can-Am Spyder costed a whopping Rs 50 lakh, which is more than what you would pay for an executive luxury sedan like a Mercedes C-Class or a BMW 3-Series. The vehicle that has been spotted recently was imported to India way back in 2013 and seems to have been re-painted recently.
The new video shows the Can-Am Spyder riding with a group of superbikes on the streets of Mumbai. As can be seen, the Spyder looks just too big in comparison to the motorcycles. The Spyder is apt for long distance touring and comes with a comfortable cockpit. It even offers multiple storage compartments.
The Can-Am Spyder comes with many features, including variable suspension settings, ventilated seats, electrically adjustable windscreen, LCD MID, audio system with iPod Connectivity and Bluetooth and lockable storage compartment.
Powering this Can-Am Spyder is a 998cc, V-Twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces a maximum power of 100 bhp and peak torque of 108 Nm. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The trike even gets a reverse gear.
The 2013 Can-Am Spyder LT had a sticker price of USD 22,499, which is roughly Rs 16 lakh. Adding 150 per cent import duty to this figure takes the final price to roughly Rs 45 lakh. Finally, the registration and insurance must have cost another Rs 5-6 lakh, thereby taking the final price to more than Rs 50 lakh.
