Next month, 3 new cars going to be launched as New Santro rival, Creta rival & XUV500 rival
January is going to be an important month for Tata Motors, Nissan and Maruti Suzuki as these three manufacturers are going to launch their new products in different segments as Tata Motors is going to launch the much awaited new Harrier followed by India-spec Kicks from Nissan and the new generation of India’s favourite tall boy car – the Wagon R.
1. Tata Harrier
Tata Motors is going to launch the Harrier in January and it is based on a new modular platform, which is derived from the D8 platform of Land Rover Discovery Sport. The Harrier is the production version of H5X Concept from Auto Expo and the company has carried over so many design elements to the production car as it will be one of its USP.
The interior of Harrier gets a completely new design theme and the company has loaded the SUV with lots of features. The Harrier is a 5 seater SUV and it comes with class-leading interior room for both front and rear passengers. The SUV is powered by 2.0 L diesel engine producing 140 PS and 350 Nm, mated to 6-speed manual and automatic will arrive later. We can expect Tata Motors to price the Harrier aggressively between 15-20 lakh.
2. Nissan Kicks
Nissan officially revealed the India-spec Kicks in October and it is based on the M0 platform of Duster to keep cost down as International model is based on advanced V-platform. The company has increased dimensions of Indian version to improve space inside the cabin. The design of India-spec Kicks is slightly different with new front and rear along with signature grille of Nissan and new LED headlamps.
The rear gets boomerang shape LED tail lamp along with an integrated spoiler. The interior is expected to be shared with the global model and the company will pack the Kicks with lots of features. In India, Nissan will offer 1.5 L diesel and petrol engine from Captur, mated to 5-speed manual gearbox and CVT might come later. The Kicks is expected to be priced between 10-14 lakh.
3. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
The India-spec Wagon R will be completely different from the Japanese model as Maruti has decided to give an evolutionary design theme for the hatchback. The popular tall-boy design will be retained with new headlamps and tail lamps along with revised bumpers. Maruti is expected to offer alloy wheels on the top-spec model.
The interior will be a big step up from the current model as the company is expected to give an upmarket theme and the hatchback will be loaded with class-leading features to lure buyers from competitors. The Wagon R will be powered by the same 1.0 L engine from the current model and it will be mated to 5-speed manual and AMT. Maruti will price the Wagon R between 4-6 lakh.
