Tesla to ramp up Model 3 production gradually; to roll out 20,000 units per month by December 2017
Tesla’s much awaited electric compact sedan Model 3 is all set to go on sale from 7th July 2017. Tesla boss Elon Musk has tweeted that there will be a handover party on 28th for the first 30 customers of the Model 3 and he also hopes the American EV manufacturer will be able to produce 20,000 units of the car by December this year. The brand aims to ramp up production of this car gradually, with 100 units in August and 1,500 units in september this year.
Tesla Model 3 has been one of the most anticipated cars of recent times since the car has been unveiled for the first time. Also, this is going to be the first model from the brand in Indian market. Tesla is already in talks with the Indian government for temporary exemption on import duty until the brand sets up its local production plant.

As the US-based auto manufacturer has claimed, the Tesla Model 3 will be an affordable version of the Model S. This car is not only going to be the brand’s most affordable car upon launch, the brand is also aiming to increase its market share in US by boosting the production volume of this model.
Since the car was unveiled last year, the company has received more than 1.15 lakh bookings for the Model 3 from all over the world including India as well. Speaking about Indian market, currently EV segment in the country is completely dominated by Mahindra Electric with its cars like the e2o Plus, eVerito etc. With the Tesla Model 3 launched here, we would see a competitive environment in the all-electric vehicle segment, which would boost the government’s policy to introduce all-electric mobility here by 2032.
