The highly anticipated Tesla Cybertruck prototype has been spotted with steel wheels and prominent side body cladding
Tesla is aggressively working on Cybertruck and this is quite evident by the prototype spotting every now and then. This time around, the pickup truck is seen sporting a set of steel wheels along with hefty side body cladding. The spy shots surfaced on an online forum that goes by the name Cybertruck Owners Club. The test mule of the upcoming EV was spotted around Tesla’s original factory which is located in Fremont, California.

Take a quick look at the spy images and you will quickly realize that this is a pre-production prototype. The unfinished edges, exposed screws and a wire running throughout the body say it all. However, the most exciting part is the presence of steel wheels in the four-wheeler. Does this mean that the electric pickup could get the option of a steel wheel? No, this is not the case.
The steel rims are fitted with Wheel Force Transducers, which is nothing but a multi-axial precision measuring system that records the forces on a rotating wheel. These high-tech devices are generally used for testing a vehicle’s chassis, suspension etc., be it a passenger car, commercial vehicle or race-spec machine.
Apart from this, squared-off wheel arches, horizontally stacked thin LED lighting strip at the front, blacked-out front and rear bumpers are some of the highlights of the test mule. In terms of suspension equipment, it is speculated that the EV will get a fully adjustable air suspension.
These steel wheels in the test mule are just for testing purposes and there is no chance that these wheels will make it to the final production model. Comparing the prototype to the concept model, there is hardly any major visible difference, except for the 10% overall size reduction.
As the final production timeline of the Cybertruck is nearing, Tesla has significantly boosted the testing process. If everything goes according to plan, we will soon have a date for the global debut of the Tesla Cybertruck.
