Tata Tigor takes on the highly successful models like Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent in India
The Tata Tigor sedan, which is one of the most affordable sedans in the Indian market, has faced a massive drop in Year-on-Year (YoY) sales figures. As per the latest sales data, Tata sold 1,236 units of the Tigor in the Indian market in March 2019, which is 40% less than the 2,076 units sold in the same period last year.
However, the figure is quite similar to the 1,259 units sold by the brand in the month of February 2019. Tata has been offering heavy discounts on the Tigor to push the sales but that has not helped the model to gather more customers. In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki has sold 19,935 units of the Dzire in the month of March while Honda sold more than 7,000 units of the Amaze.
Tata launched the 2019 version of the Tiago in the Indian market earlier and is offered with standard ABS across all the variants. The base variant of the Tigor carries a price tag of Rs. 5.42 lakh while the top-end version is priced at Rs. 7.51 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Tigor offers ABS, EBD and Corner Stability Control as standard across all the five trims.
Tata also launched a facelifted version of the Tigor in the Indian market last year with minor changes. The sedan is quite loaded with features and in its latest avatar, it gets projector headlamps, 15-inch dual tone alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, front grille inspired by the diamonds and shark-fin antenna on the roof.
The Tata Tigor gets distinguished notchback inspired design. The Tigor also offers features like the dual-tone interior, faux leather-wrapped steering wheel with white contrasting stitching, touchscreen infotainment system and an 8-speaker system from Harman.
It gets powered by both petrol and diesel engine options.
There is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates a maximum of 85 PS and peak torque of 114 Nm. The 1.05-litre diesel engine of the Tigor produces a maximum of 70 PS and 140 Nm. The petrol engine also offers a 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox as an option.
