Embarking on a launch spree, Tata Motors introduced the Tiago NRG in the domestic market a couple of months ago ahead of the facelifted Tigor that arrived just two weeks before. The homegrown automaker is planning to launch one more product this month as the JTP performance version of the Tigor is scheduled to enter the market on October 26 capitalising on the festive season rush.

Cloaks were lifted off both the Tiago and Tigor JTP versions at the 2018 Auto Expo in February and they were developed under the 50:50 joint venture firm called JT Special Vehicles. Tata has partnered with Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotives in this special project that will likely spawn more performance upgraded vehicles in the near future.

The Tiago and Tigor JTP (Jayem Tata Performance) pay tribute to the iconic Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore they are developed on, and the production versions look as exquisite as the prototypes showcased at Greater Noida. With first clear pictures of the Tigor JTP out online, we can examine what the upcoming hot model is all about.

The Tata Tigor JTP boasts updated visuals that ensure it standing out from the regular variant. It gets sportier front fascia comprising of more aggressive front and rear bumper, larger air inlets in the lower section of the bumper, smoked projector headlamps, factory-fitted bonnet vents, bolder red accents, and blackened grille assembly.

The side skirts, 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, dual exhaust pipes, piano black roof and B-pillar, faux diffuser, etc are other exterior highlights. On the inside, the same theme is carried over with red garnishes for air vents, leather seat upholstery, contrast red stitching, and aluminium pedals among others.

The hot Tigor JTP sedan is powered by 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged petrol engine, which is good enough to develop a maximum power output of more than 110 horsepower and 170 Nm peak torque. It is mated to only a five-speed manual transmission, and could be priced at around Rs. 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

The suspension setup will be tuned for engaging handling characteristics as well, as Tata targets audience wanting to own high performance affordable sedan with the Tigor JTP.
