Tata Tiago registered 7,036 units in August 2017; recorded 55 percent growth compared to the same period last year
Tata Tiago has crossed 7,000 sales mark for the first time since launch as the hatchback registered 7,036 units in August 2017. The hatchback recorded impressive 55% growth in last month compared to the corresponding month in 2016, when it registered 4,527 units. The sales increased by 12% compared to July 2017, when the Tata Tiago recorded 6,274 units.
The Tata Tiago proved itself as the bestselling car of the brand in August 2017. Despite the low sales due to confusion regarding GST, Tiago managed to fetch impressive sales result. Thanks to its fresh design, upmarket features, new efficient powertrains, Tata Tiago has been able to grab attention of the buyers. Its aggressive pricing range Rs. 3.33 lakh – Rs. 5.76 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), has also helped the Tiago to become successful.
Tiago is the product of Tata Motors’ new crop of cars with IMPACT design language. Apart from the stylish exterior design, this hatchback also gets upmarket features inside the cabin. Interestingly, the Tigor compact sedan and Hexa have managed to register 2,103 units and 1,715 units respectively. Tigor has proved to be the second bestselling model from the brand in August 2017, while the Tata Zest recorded 1,743 units in last month.
So far, one thing is clear that Tata Motors is depending heavily on the Tiago hatchback and the car is expected to see further sales boost during the festive season. Tata Tiago is available in both petrol and diesel engine options.

The petrol model is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron engine, while the diesel model draws energy from a 1.05-litre Revotorq unit. Transmission duty is done by a 5-speed manual gearbox and there is an AMT gearbox on offer with the petrol model. Availability of the AMT gearbox in the XTA and XZA trims has helped the car to become more appealing to the new generation buyers.
