Tata Motors is going to launch Tiago JTP performance model soon and it will come with lots of mechanical changes to make it more potent
Indian buyers give importance for mileage and comfort over performance but in the recent times’ things have started to changes as customers are willing to spend more money on performance models and manufacturers like Volkswagen and Maruti have tasted success with Polo GT and Baleno RS models respectively.
Tata Motors is also looking to explore this growing segment as the company has joined hands with Coimbatore’s based Jayam Auto to develop performance variants based on regular models and it will be positioned as JTP models. The Tiago and Tigor JTP models were showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The company is going to launch Tiago JTP performance variant soon and the production model has been spotted on the public road for the first time sans camouflage. The Tiago JTP model is finished in bright red colour and the rear gets dual tone bumper with twin exhausts along with faux diffuser and a rear fog lamp.
The integrated spoiler at the rear and the roof is finished in a glossy black finish for a sporty look. The JTP model also comes with 15-inch alloy wheels and slightly bigger profile tyres. The front bumper also gets minor tweaks along with JTP badging on front, side and rear. Tata Motors has also given black finish for rear view mirrors with integrated blinkers.
The interior continues the same design from regular Tiago but it will be finished in black colour. The company has given contrasting red stitching and red accents around the AC vents along with aluminium pedals. The JTP model will be based on top end trim with all the bells and whistles.
The centre console gets 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from NRG variant with 8 speaker Harman audio system. The Tiago JTP model will be powered by 1.2 L turbocharged engine from Nexon producing 110 hp and 150 Nm, mated to 5-speed manual transmission. We can expect the Tiago JTP model to be priced at Rs. 6 lakh (Ex-Showroom).
