Tata Nexon Reaches 25,000th Production Milestone In India (Tata Reclaims Third Position; Posts Biggest Sales Growth In August 2018)

Tata Motors posted 28.5 percent year on year growth in August, which is highest in passenger vehicle sector as most of the brands registered negative growth

Tata Motors has beaten Mahindra and Honda again to become the third largest car maker in August 2018. The strong demand for Nexon, Tiago and Tigor has helped the company stay ahead of competitors even though they didn’t launch any new products in recent months. The sales difference between these three companies is small, which is why they swap positions each month.

Tata Motors sold 18,420 units in August, 2018 compared to 14,340 units same month last year. The company has posted 28.5 percent year on year growth in August, which is highest in passenger vehicle sector as most of the brands registered negative growth. The domestic sales of Tata Motors including PV and CV have also posted strong growth of 27 percent last month.

The company sold 58,262 units last month compared to 45,906 units in same month last year. The CV segment is very important for Tata Motors as it brings good volume and profit. The Indian auto giant is planning to introduce more CV models in coming months to improve growth.

When compared to other brands, Tata Motors is not a major player in export segment, but last month the company exported 5,478 units compared to just 3,082 units same month last year with a staggering growth of 78 percent. Mahindra sold 17,378 units last month and finished in fourth position.

The company didn’t launch any new products in the first half of 2018, but they have already launched Marazzo yesterday and planning to introduce two new models by the end of this year. It will help them to improve sales as the company is expecting new models to contribute around 8,500 units per month.

Honda sold 17,020 units last month compared to 17,365 units in same month last year, but the new Amaze is selling really well for the Japanese manufacturer and they are planning to introduce new generation of CR-V and Civic to India before the end of this year and in early 2019 respectively. The next product from Tata Motors will be new Harrier, but it will be launched in Jan or Feb 2019 only. We will have to wait and see who will take the leading position after new launches.
