Tata Plans Premium Showrooms; Aims To Cover 95% Of Market By 2020

Tata Motors is planning a product offensive for domestic market in coming years; AMP platform to play crucial role

Tata Motors is aiming to increase its share in the Indian market and in order to do so, the brand is targeting to cover 95% of the market by 2020. The homegrown auto major will launch a range of new products that include two new premium SUVs, a premium hatchback, an entry level hatchback and a new sedan as well. The new compact SUV Nexon too is going to play an important role in the growth strategy.

As we already reported, Tata Motors is expected to unveil the two premium SUVs codenamed as Q501 and Q502 respectively, along with the premium hatchback codenamed as X451 at the 2018 New Delhi Auto Show. It is also working on an entry level hatchback and a midsize sedan that would be launched in the country market in 2019.

While these new products with fresh design and advanced features are expected to increase its market share, the AMP platform will be instrumental for the company’s product expansion strategy. Mayank Pareek, head of passenger vehicles business unit of Tata Motors says that the upcoming small hatchback and the new sedan too will be based on AMP architecture. Alongside that, the company is using a JLR platform that will underpin the future SUVs like Q501 and Q502.

Not only new products and new technology, Tata Motors is also relying on making its showrooms more attractive and offering the customers a premium car buying experience. As we reported earlier, the brand is revamping its retail outlets across the country. The showrooms will come donning a lounge like appearance, much similar like Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa retail outlets.

Tata Motors says that its new products like Tiago, Tigor and Hexa are doing great and in the upcoming festive season too, these models are expected to fetch impressive sales result. Along with that, the newly launched Nexon is going to play an instrumental role for the brand to become third big auto major in the country by 2020.
