Nexon enters top 10 UV list in September 2017 with 2,772 units sold; becomes Tata’s second bestselling model last month
Tata Motors is seeing pretty good response with the Nexon SUV. The compact SUV has fetched an impressive sales number in the very first month after its launch by registering 2,772 units in September 2017. The car also entered the top 10 utility vehicle list in last month. The SUV was launched in the country on 21st September and as it appears, in less than a month, the car has proved its capability.
Interestingly, Tata Nexon became the second bestselling model from the homegrown auto major with Tiago holding the top position. The hatchback sold 8,316 units in September 2017 registering 82% growth compared to same month last year when it recorded 4,557 units. Also, compared to August 2017, Tiago’s sales increased by 18%.

As we wrote earlier, Tata Motors is expecting to see significant sales growth with the new models; that is proving to be right as the new models in its portfolio are doing pretty well. Apart from the Nexon and Tiago, other two new models Tigor and Hexa have registered 1,770 units and 1,245 units respectively in September 2017.
The automaker registered total sales of 17,286 units in last month, compared to 14,620 units sold in the same month of last year. Tata Motors registered an 18% growth in YoY basis. Among the other models from the brand, Safari and Nano are bleeding as well. The small hatchback sold only 124 units in last month marking an 80% decline in sales compared to same month last year, when it recorded 610 units. The SUV too registered 35% decline with 481 units sold in September 2017.

While the Nexon did so well in less than one month after its launch, the SUV likely have fetched far better sales result in this month driven by the car buying trend during festive season. The same can be said about the Tiago and Tigor as well, which are two of the car manufacturer’s most impressive models in the domestic market.
