As per the August 2018 sales figures, the Tata Nexon sold 4,499 units, which is slightly more than 4,435 units of the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza continues leading with a whopping 13,271 units

Once again, the Tata Nexon has managed to beat the Ford EcoSport in terms of monthly sales figures. In the month of August 2018, the Maruti VItara Brezza has once again gained the top spot by posting a sales figure of a staggering 13,271 units. However, there has been quite a battle for the second place as both the Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport have posted a sales figure of more than 4,400 units.

Ultimately, however, it is the Tata Nexon that has managed to gain an edge over the American SUV. As compared to the 4,435 units sold by the Ford EcoSport, the Tata Nexon has posted a sales figure of 4,435 units.

Between the Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon, it’s actually the former that is the most expensive car in this segment. With prices starting from Rs 7.82 lakh for the petrol and Rs 8.42 lakh for the diesel, it’s definitely a lot pricier than the Nexon. Speaking of the prices of the Tata compact SUV, the base petrol model costs only Rs 6.29 lakh and the base diesel costs Rs 7.33 lakh. Hence, the Nexon enjoys a clear pricing edge over the EcoSport.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza has a starting price of Rs 7.58 lakh but let’s not forget that the Brezza is a diesel-only model. What’s interesting to note here is that the Maruti SUV continues to enjoy an undisputed lead in spite of not having a petrol engine.

Powering the petrol version of the Tata Nexon is a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that outputs a maximum power of 110 PS along with a peak torque of 170 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel version is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged motor that offers a similar maximum power output of 110 PS but a higher peak torque of 260 Nm. Both the motors come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and a 6-speed AMT as optional.

The Tata Nexon is the only car in its segment to offer an automatic transmission for both petrol and diesel variants. While the Ford EcoSport offers a torque-converter automatic with the 1.5-litre petrol engine, the Maruti Vitara Brezza offers an AMT for its 1.3-litre diesel engine. It’s only the Nexon that has an automatic option in the form of an AMT for both the fuel variants.
