Tata Motors working on a minor update for Tiago with new projector headlamps and 15-inch alloy wheels from its compact sedan sibling

Tata Motors introduced new variants and limited edition models to attract more buyers during the festival season. The Tiago is the best selling model for the company in India and the hatchback is expected to get an update soon as the new model has been spotted for the first time in Pune.

The hatchback gets subtle changes on the exterior as the front and rear get new bumper along with same projector headlamps from Tigor. The test mule also comes with 15-inch alloy wheels from the compact sedan sibling and it is finished in new Titanium Grey paint with black contrast roof also.

The rear might get tweaked tail lamps, which rounds off the exterior changes. The interior is expected to be carried over from the current model, but the company might introduce the 7-inch touch screen infotainment system from Tigor facelift model. The hatchback comes with features like Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted control and more.

The updated model will be powered by same engine options as the 1.2 L petrol engine puts out 84 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. The 1.05 L diesel engine produces 69 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 1,800 rpm. Both these engines are mated to 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT is available only with petrol.

The diesel model returns 27.28 kmpl and 23.84 kmpl for petrol (manual and AMT). The Tiago measures 3746 mm length, 1647 mm width, 1535 mm height and wheelbase are 2400 mm. The ground clearance is 165 mm and kerb weight is 1040 kgs. The hatchback offers good boot space of 242 litres.

The Tiago hatchback accounts for 43 per cent of the total volume of Tata Motors. Even though it was introduced in 2016, every year sales of Tiago has improved and the recently launched NRG variant is also popular among customers. The Tiago is going to compete against new Hyundai Santro and Maruti Suzuki Celerio.
