Tata Motors hikes price across its entire passenger car line-up ranging between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 12,000, citing production cost increase as reason

Tata Motors has increased price of its cars across the entire passenger car line-up. The prices of the cars have been hiked by 1%, which marks the amount increased between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 12,000. The Indian automaker is blaming the production cost increase as the reason behind this price hike.

Speaking about the hike Mr. Mayank Pareek, the President of Passenger Vehicle unit at Tata Motors has said that prices of raw materials like steel and zinc have increased, which resulted price hike of cars. In this year several automakers have already hiked prices across their line-up showing production cost increase as reason.

Earlier this year in March, Hyundai increased prices of its cars between Rs. 2,889 and Rs. 82,906. Later in August India’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki also increased price of its cars ranging between Rs. 1,500 and Rs. 20,000. Few days back, Renault also announced that, it will increase price across its entire car line-up in India by 2% before upcoming Diwali. Now with Tata Motors already taken the decision, another Indian automaker Mahindra is also preparing to walk the same path soon.

Meanwhile, Tata Motors is preparing to launch its upcoming model Hexa, with booking for the car scheduled to begin from 1st November. Delivery of this car will start from January 2017. In recent times, Tata Motors have started offering more fresh looking and upmarket products to the customers. Hexa is one of them, and earlier this year the company introduced Tiago hatchback. Both this cars have been designed following IMPACT design language.

Apart from Hexa, Tata Motors is also preparing to launch Kite-5 compact sedan, which was displayed at 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo. The compact sedan is based on Tiago hatchback and it shares several components with its hatchback sibling. To make its products attractive Tata Motors is taking inspiration from globally acclaimed automakers like Jaguar Land Rover. Hexa has been designed with suggestions from JLR engineers.
