Tata targets to retail 2.5 lakh cars in the current fiscal; aims to become one among top three automakers by FY19

Tata Motors is aiming to sell around 2.4 lakh – 2.5 lakh passenger vehicles in the current fiscal. The homegrown automaker aspires to become one among the top three auto manufacturers in the country by next financial year and selling around 2.5 lakh PVs will help the brand to be closer to its goal.

Currently, Tata Motors is the biggest auto manufacturer if both the passenger and commercial vehicle sales are combined together. While the brand has been focusing to strengthen its grip in the commercial vehicle segment, in the passenger vehicle segment too, Tata aims to increase its market share. For that, the auto major is emphasising on world class new designs, upmarket features and premiumness in its cars.

If we look at the cars rolled out by the company in last couple of years, it is clearly visible that Tata is putting all the effort to make its cars pretty stylish and attractive with superior exterior design and several high-end upmarket features. For instance, we can mention the name of the Tiago hatchback, Tigor compact sedan. Apart from that, Hexa and soon to be launched Nexon too appear pretty appealing.

The Tiago hatchback that came with an exciting design has managed to fetch 1 lakh booking this month and it sells around 6,000 units on an average every month. The Tigor and Hexa too have received pretty good response from the buyers. Last month, the company registered 11,176 units in the sales chart. In April and May this year, the automaker registered 12,827 units and 10,855 units respectively.

The Nexon that is ready to be launched in the domestic market soon is also expected to garner good response from the customers. Apart from that, thanks to GST car prices have been dropped that is helping the brand to fetch more sales result. So far, if Tata Motors continues with its current rate of sales and becomes able to reach the goal of selling 2.5 lakh units by March 2018, we may see this brand becoming the third auto major in the country after Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.
