Tata Motors Rolls Out 1,00,000th Tiago From Sanand Plant

Tata Tiago reached the 1 lakh production milestone in 19 months since launch; played key role in increasing Tata’s market share

Tata Tiago has been the most successful products from the homegrown auto manufacturer in recent times and the company has rolled out its 100,000th unit of the hatchback from Sanand plant in Gujarat. The Tiago achieved this production milestone in 19 month since its launch in April last year. The car helped in increasing market share for the hatchback to 6.11% in 18 months.

The Tata Tiago registered 93,299 units of sales till September 2017. The petrol variants sold 77,086 units, while the diesel powered model sold 16,213 units. While Tata Motors had 5.60% market share in the passenger vehicle segment of Indian auto market and in last month, the company recorded 6.11% market share, which has been large attributed to the success of the Tiago.

Tata Tiago comes with a fresh design following the automaker’s Impact design language. Priced aggressively between Rs. 3.21 lakh and Rs. 5.75 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), Tata Tiago competes with tough rivals like Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai Beat. Despite tough rivalry from competitors, Tiago has been able to continue with a steady sales figure.

Tata Tiago hatchback is based on the same floorpan as the Tata Indica. Other elements have been developed as brand new and thanks to the upmarket features, Tiago has been able to make a strong and appealing impression among the domestic buyers. The car became so popular that Tata started a second shift at its Sanand factory in order to increase production volume and reduce waiting period significantly.

The Tiago comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.05-litre turbocharged diesel motor as powertrain options. Both the petrol and diesel models come as pretty fuel efficient and decently powerful for commuting in and around city. It gets a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and an AMT as option with petrol model.
