Tata Motors intensifies Hexa vs Jeep Compass rivalry; mentions features the new SUV misses out in head-to-head comparison

Jeep has just introduced its third product in India, the made-in-India Compass SUV. Before the car actually tastes dust, Tata Motors has mocked the new born SUV with its new advertisement for the Hexa. As the advertisement says, no Compass required, it is clearly indicating the Jeep SUV. Not only that, Tata Motors also took the chance to show the features the Hexa has, but Jeep Compass doesn’t get.

Tata clearly states that the Hexa beats the Jeep Compass on most counts and leads the competition. If we compare the two cars, Tata Hexa appears with more spacious appearance thanks its dimensional superiority. While Hexa gets 200 mm of ground clearance, Jeep Compass comes with 22 mm of less ground clearance at 178 mm. Tata Hexa gets 19-inch alloy wheels on top trim, while the Jeep Compass comes with smaller 17-inch alloy wheel option on the top trims.

Tata Hexa is available in six seater or seven seater options, while Jeep Compass is a five seater SUV, with provision of comfortable seating for four adult occupants. Hexa gets a 10-speaker HBL audio system inside cabin compared to Compass’ 6-speaker audio system. Also, Hexa sports ambient mood lighting with 8 colour options. Other features of Tata Hexa that are not available in Jeep Compass include 8-step adjustable driver seat, hill descent control, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, retractable window sunblinds, cooled and illuminated upper glovebox.

On the powertrain front too, Tata Motors mocks the unavailability of automatic gearbox option in Jeep Compass diesel model. While there is a 6-speed automatic transmission on offer with Tata Hexa’s 2.2-litre Varicor diesel engine, Jeep Compass gets manual gearbox only with its 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel engine. However, Compass gets an automatic transmission on offer with the petrol model.

Also, Tata Motors mentions about its widespread service centre network across the country, while Jeep only has 50 service centres across India. Not only that, on the pricing front too Jeep Compass is more expensive compared to Hexa. The Hexa is priced between Rs. 10.96 lakh and Rs. 16.24 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and the Jeep Compass comes priced between Rs. 14.95 lakh and Rs. 20.65 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
