The Tata Harrier is expected to cost more than the Hyundai Creta. In comparison to the base price of INR 9.44 lakh for the Hyundai Creta, the new Tata flagship will cost at least Rs 13 lakh. This means that the lower variants of the Creta will continue to dominate the sub INR 13 lakh price segment, at least till the new Nissan Kicks manages to make an impact on the sales of the traditional bestseller.
The Tata Harrier, on the other end, will attack the high-end variants of the Hyundai Creta. The Hyundai Creta is on sale in three engine variants – 1.4-litre CRDI diesel, 1.6-litre CRDI diesel, and 1.6-litre VVTi petrol. On the other hand, the Tata Harrier will go on sale in just one variant – 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel.
The smaller diesel engine of the Creta offers 80 bhp of maximum power and 220 Nm of peak torque. The bigger diesel motor outputs 126 bhp and 259 Nm, while the petrol engine delivers 121 bhp and 151 Nm. On the other hand, the Harrier outputs 138 bhp and 350 Nm. The most fuel-efficient version of the Hyundai Creta, which is the 1.4-litre diesel version with the manual transmission, offers an ARAI-tested mileage figure of 22.1 kmpl. The 1.6-litre diesel manual and automatic versions offer 20.5 kmpl and 17.6 kmpl respectively. The petrol version outputs 15.8 kmpl with manual and 14.8 kmpl with automatic transmission.

The Tata Harrier will be a bigger model than the Hyundai Creta. The latter measures 4,270mm in length, 1,780mm in width and 1,630mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,590 mm and a ground clearance of 183mm. The Korean SUV offers a boot space of 400-litres.
While exact dimensions of the Tata Harrier aren’t known at the moment, they are likely to mirror the H5X concept that was put on display at the Auto Expo 2018. The show car measured 4,575mm in length, 1,950mm in width and 1,686 mm in height. It had a wheelbase of 2,740mm. The production-spec model should have a ground clearance of 200 mm.
