Tata Motors already has the Tiago EV and Tigor EV in the production form; in the future, it will launch EV versions of Altroz and H2X small SUV

The popularity of electric vehicles in India is minuscule when compared to developed countries. However, looking at the future, it won’t be long before the Indian market gets the electric vehicle wave. Indian manufacturers Mahindra and Tata are working on launching a range of electric vehicles in the future.

Recently, the electrified version of the Tata Nexon was caught under development.
According to the report, Tata has developed three units of the Nexon EV in India as a part of the production test run, which indicates that the development of the vehicle is almost complete.

This image of the Nexon EV has no visible changes when compared to the regular model of the sub-4m compact SUV. The Tata Nexon has been the second best-selling sub-4m SUV in the Indian market replacing the Ford EcoSport in recent times. It is quite possible that Tata is looking to take advantage of the popularity of the model.

Incidentally, Mahindra is also working on the electrified version of the XUV300. The regular version of the Mahindra XUV300 takes on the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. Details like battery and powertrain are not known yet. However, it is likely to get a similar powertrain that is available with the Tata Tiago EV and the Tigor EV.

It is expected to offer a range around 150-200 km. Tata recently showcased the H2X concept at the Geneva Motor Show, and it is working an electric version of the vehicle too. Tata’s H2X EV will take on the upcoming KUV 100 EV, which is also under the development and is expected to be launched in the Indian market soon.
