The automaker will invest 100 billion Yen to start a new production line at the Gujarat facility

Suzuki is gearing up to invest a whopping 100 billion yen in its Gujarat manufacturing plant to start a new production line. With this, Maruti Suzuki is expected to reach a total annual production capacity of around 2.25 million vehicles. This will mark around 30% hike in the brand’s annual production capacity compared to the current number.

Maruti Suzuki is already the biggest automaker in the country with largest market share. With increased production volume, the car manufacturer is aiming greater share in the country. Also, this will give the Indo-Japanese company an edge over its closest competitor Hyundai. The Gujarat facility commenced production in February this year and it produces the premium hatchback Baleno. The new generation Dzire and upcoming new generation Swift will be produced here as well.

Currently the Gujarat manufacturing plant has a capacity to roll out 2.5 lakh units per annum and with addition of the new production line this plant will be able to make 4.5 lakh units of vehicles every year. The Gujarat plant also works as an export hub for the automaker and the new production line will spawn more models for overseas markets.

Maruti Suzuki is currently all-set to roll out its latest product, the new generation Dzire compact sedan that is set to launch on 16th May. It comes with significant design change compared to its predecessor. It is clear that Maruti Suzuki is focusing to cater the buyers with more upmarket products and the Dzire follows this strategy.

Next-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire has borrowed design inspiration from its hatchback sibling Swift, but the compact sedan appears very distinctive looking. A new front grille, sharper headlamps with LED daytime running lights, flowing design at the side profile has added zing to the car, while inside the cabin it has become more upmarket with new features and improved quality materials.
