The special edition Suzuki Jimny Gan And Vitara Katana revealed at the 2019 Turin Motor Show are visually striking
Suzuki took the opportunity at the 2019 Turin Motor Show in Italy to unveil two special editions. One is based on the Jimny and the other on Vitara. The Japanese manufacturer’s car and two-wheeler divisions do take the ‘Katana’ name seriously and it is no different on the limited-run Vitara.
Katana refers to the sword in Japanese language and the legendary name was revived at INTERMOT 2018 for a performance bike that shares underpinnings with the GSX-S1000. In the recent past, we showed you the limited edition Katana version based on the Swift hatchback as well.
Do they resemble each other in terms of styling approach? Yes, with a dark theme and red highlights. The Suzuki Vitara Katana is based on the top-spec AllGrip 4WD variant of the regular SUV and it comes equipped with a 1.4-litre BoosterJet petrol engine producing a maximum power output of 140 horsepower.
Suzuki calls the paint scheme as Gray London and it is fitted with a black roof to add an extra dimension to the SUV while the contrast red highlights complement the satin black alloy wheels and slightly smoked headlamps. The front fascia gets blackened grille slats while the pillars and wing mirrors are finished in black, likewise.
The interior continues with the dark theme alongside featuring Alcantara inserts. The special edition Suzuki Jimny named the ‘Gan’ is modified by a tuning firm called Zanfi. The regular small off-roader has its ground clearance increased by 100 mm in the Gan courtesy of the new springs, green painted shocks and Panhard bars.
The exterior sports black body colour while the bumpers and squared wheel arches are done up in grey. The Suzuki Jimny Gan also comes with reinforced transmission shafts, 30 mm wheel spacers, bigger 235/75 off-road tyres, red accents inside and out, lateral stone guard finished in light anthracite grey, cable holder and detachable anti-roll bar among other customised features.
