Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd has today introduced the MotoGP edition of the highly popular Gixxer SF range in the domestic market. The manufacturers competing in the premier class motorcycle racing series have the distinct advantage of selling the MotoGP editions derived from their race machines, as they are much revered by the enthusiasts for their uniqueness.
The Japanese manufacturer says the MotoGP edition pays homage to the brand’s racing legacy. The latest colour scheme introduced four years ago has been synonymous with Suzuki’s identity as well as the Gixxer SF series. It carries plenty of design cues from the official racing constructor, the Team Suzuki Ecstar and its decals can be clearly seen.
Even the distinctive wheel pinstripes on the MotoGP bikes have made their way into the production Gixxer SF series. It expresses the “passion and spirit of racing, inspired by legendary GSX-R series” according to Devashish Handa, Vice President, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. The new MotoGP edition comes on the back of Suzuki refreshing its domestic range by bringing in new generation products.
In July 2019, Suzuki launched the all-new Gixxer SF 250 and new-gen SF 155 faired motorcycles while the naked Gixxer received a substantial upgrade less than a week ago. The Suzuki Gixxer SF MotoGP edition is priced at Rs. 1,10,605 (ex-showroom, New Delhi) (around Rs. 800 more than the standard version) while the Gixxer SF 250 MotoGP edition will be brought in next month.
The Gixxer SF MotoGP edition series is painted in Suzuki’s signature Racing Blue colour and it takes heavy inspiration from the 2019 MotoGP challenger, the GSX-RR. Suzuki says it has enhanced the aerodynamic design with edgy character lines and lower centre of gravity while the clip-on handlebars enhance the comfort factor for the rider during short commuting and long touring.
It uses the same 155cc, single-cylinder fuel-injected, air-cooled, four-stroke SOHC engine with SEP technology developing 14.1 PS at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque delivered at 6,000 rpm. The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 MotoGP edition, on the other hand, is powered by 249cc, Suzuki Oil Cooling System (SOCS) enabled four-stroke, single-cylinder fuel injection SOHC engine pumping out 26.5 PS at 9,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm at 7,500 rpm.
