With a sales of 62,446 units, Suzuki Motorcycle India posts its highest-ever domestic sales – all thanks to the high demand for the Burgman 125 automatic scooter
Thanks to a really high demand for the Suzuki Burgman 125 automatic scooter, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL), a subsidiary of one of the most popular Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, Suzuki Motor Corporation, has clocked its best-ever monthly domestic sale of as many as 62,446 units during the month of August 2018.
The great sales performance has translated into a 31% growth over August 2017. Also, with a total domestic sales of 2,67,888 units during April-August 2018, Suzuki Motorcycle India enjoys an overall domestic growth of 41% during FY 2018-19.
Speaking on the role played by the Suzuki Burgman in the great sales performance, Mr Sajeev Rajasekharan, EVP, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said, “We owe this tremendous growth to our flagship brand Suzuki Access 125 and the newly launched Burgman Street 125, which have contributed to more than 55,000 units this month.
The 125cc scooter segment is thriving in India, and as a market-leader in this segment, it augurs well for us. Not only have we managed to sustain a 41% growth this year, but with the festive season looming, we are confident of maintaining this growth curve in the coming days as well.”
In terms of total sales (Domestic as well as Exports, Suzuki Motorcycle India posted a healthy sales figure of 70,067 units. The cumulative sales for April-August 2018 period stood at 2,98,975 units with a growth of 34%. Suzuki Motorcycle India is targeting an annual sale of 7,00,000 units for the FY 2018-19.
The Suzuki Burgman 125 has been priced at Rs. 69,981 (ex-showroom). It rivals premium automatic scooters like the Aprilia SR125 and Piaggio Vespa 125. Its features list includes a fully digital LCD instrument panel, LED position lamp, all LED taillight, LED headlamp, sporty chrome accents, tall windshield, comfortable and well-cushioned seat, multi-function key slot, 21.5-litre under seat storage capacity, 12V charging socket, optional USB charger, etc.
Powering the Suzuki Burgman 125 is a 124.3 cc single-cylinder air-cooled SOHC petrol engine that comes from the Suzuki Access 125. It produces 8.7 PS at 7,000 rpm and 10.2 Nm peak torque at 5,000 rpm.
