2018 Audi RS5 Coupe is powered by a twin turbocharged 2.9-litre TFSI V6 engine making 450 PS power and 600 Nm torque

Audi has officially launched the 2018 RS5 Coupe in the Indian market today at a price of Rs. 1.1 crore (ex-showroom, pan India). It competes against the likes of BMW M4 that uses a 3.0-litre inline V6 twin-turbo engine producing 444 bhp and 550 Nm. The RS5 Coupe is priced over Rs. 20 lakh cheaper than the M4 and is an unmistakable sports car in its own right. It follows the S5 and Sportback in the A5 range and is positioned as the range-topping model.

It comes powered by a twin turbocharged 2.9-litre TFSI V6 engine which was introduced in June 2017 for the European market. With a performance-focused engine co-developed with Porsche, the German luxury automaker calls it a new generation GT model in the RS range. It is claimed to have a power-packed performance with everyday road usage while boasting touch of elegance.

2017 Audi RS5 Coupe 2

The engine makes 450 PS and 600 Nm of peak torque and compared to the previous version sold in international markets, it has more torque rating (170 Nm of them) and is available from 1,900 rpm onwards. Thee zero to 100 kmph acceleration time is dealt in 3.9 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph.

The engine is coupled to an eight-speed automatic gearbox sending power to all the wheels via Quattro AWD system. If the optional RS Dynamic Package is offered, it would increase the top speed to 280 kmph. The Quattro technology gains a very unique central self-locking differential but an optional rear sport differential can be ordered by customers as well in most markets.

2017 Audi RS5 Coupe

Compared to its predecessor, the 2018 Audi RS5 Coupe has a modified chassis with a new five-link suspension setup at the rear eliminating the trapezoidal system. For sporty ride and handling, it comprises of RS sport suspension as standard fitment as the ride height reduces by 7 mm over the base version. Also provided are dynamic steering with RS tuning, ceramic brakes, RS sport suspension with DRC (Dynamic Ride Control), etc.

The drive is rear biased with 40:60 split and the exterior gets dynamic wheel arches, large singleframe sporty front grille and 19-inch alloy wheels with optional 20-inchers. It also has sleek profile and aggressive character lines emphasising the coupe characteristics.
