Smart Vision EQ Fortwo Concept is an all-electric vehicle built with urban mobility in mind and can drive itself to a re-filling station for charging
Smart has unveiled a new Vision EQ concept that has made its global premiere at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. This conceptual study is an autonomous pod for two and showcases the small mobility solution of the future in local and urban environment. The all-electric vehicle boasts connected car technology for uninterrupted service to customers when required.
The Vision EQ concept is the maiden vehicle to come under the revolutionary EQ electric brand of Daimler. The German automotive giant is planning to launch more than a dozen vehicles with electrified powertrains by 2022. The concept carries all the more importance as it could enter production under the Smart brand while on a broader scale a big electric SUV appears to be in the pipeline.
Smart CEO Annette Winkler said that the Vision EQ Fortwo is the vision of future urban mobility and the most radical car sharing concept car of all. It comes equipped with maximum communication capabilities and is friendly and fully autonomous with profound personalisation options according to him.
The Smart Vision EQ Fortwo is developed with car sharing as its primary purpose and on the inside there are no physical controls as everything can be operated via voice input or user’s mobile device. The futuristic dashboard comprises of a 24-inch display bordered by rose and gold frame while the edges are fitted with 4-inch smaller screens.
The pod cockpit is designed to fit two individuals. On the outside, it gets black panel grille for communicating with other road users like displaying pedestrian crossing information. The LED displays project necessary details at the rear as well while the doors are coated with a film that can be activated on demand.
Since the Vision EQ concept is for the urban mobility, it gets a 30 kWh battery pack and is claimed to self drive itself to a charging station for re-filling when not involved in transporting.
