Skoda Rapid Rider comes with exterior and interior enhancements; offered only with 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine mated to manual transmission

Skoda Auto India has today introduced the special edition Rapid Rider in the domestic market for a price of Rs. 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom introductory, pan India). The Czech Republican automaker has made the limited edition available in two paint schemes namely Candy White and Carbon Steel.

It can be booked across all the authorised Skoda dealerships operational in the country. According to Zac Hollis, Director – Sales, Service and Marketing, Skoda Auto India, the Rapid Rider offers “emotive design, exquisite interiors and class-leading safety features, at a very competitive price point”. Skoda Rapid Rider comes with a number of cosmetic updates compared to the standard model.

On the outside, it features unique black design elements as the front grille gets horizontal black slats aligning with the blackened lower grille section with hexagonal mesh. The black theme is carried all around with the presence of black side foils, glossy black décor on the B-pillar alongside black boot lip garnish.

The brand says the changes go hand-in-hand with the crystalline appearance followed as the design theme. An all-new dual-tone ebony sand interior complements the ivory slate upholstery and the scuff plates with ‘RAPID’ inscription add to the uniqueness of the limited edition. Skoda offers dual front airbags and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as standard.

Other notable safety and security equipment in the Skoda Rapid Rider includes Parktronic rear parking sensors, height adjustable three-point seatbelts at the front, anti-glare interior rear view mirror, rear windscreen defogger with timer, rough road package engine immobilizer with a floating code system and so on.

The Skoda Rapid Rider can be had only with the 1.6-litre multi-point injected four-cylinder petrol engine with 16-valve dual overhead camshaft setup. It is good enough to generate a maximum power output of 105 PS and 153 Nm of peak torque. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the powertrain is claimed capable of returning 15.41 kmpl.

For customers’ peace of mind, the Skoda Shield Plus provides 6 years “hassle-free ownership experience” with motor insurance, 24 x 7 roadside assistance and an extended warranty. It must be noted that Skoda became the first brand in India to offer 4-year service care – 4-year warranty, 4-year roadside assistance, and optional 4-year maintenance package.
