Skoda Octavia Onyx Edition is limited to just 100 units and will be up for grabs in the top-spec Style Plus trim

Skoda has been gearing up to boost its sales in India and has recently introduced the facelifted Rapid. The company plans to launch multiple cars in the country along with an investment of over Rs. 100 crore to improve the after-sales service. The Czech brand’s officials had earlier confirmed the launch of the Octavia Onyx edition based on the current generation model to boost sales before it makes way for the standard facelift expected in second quarter.

The Onyx is also known as Black Edition in international market and it was officially teased a few days back. Introduced now, the Onyx is the first of supposed four launches slated for this year and will be available only in the top-of-the-line Style Plus grade in both petrol and diesel engine trims with black and white colours.

The Skoda Octavia Onyx Edition belongs to the Action Model range of the automaker. It comes with several cosmetic updates over the standard sedan. Limited to just 100 units, it could be sold between Rs. 19,000 and Rs. 22,000 premium over the existing Style Plus variant. The standard Octavia Style Plus is priced at Rs. 21.5 lakh for petrol and Rs 23.1 lakh for diesel variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The black paint job surely enhances the appeal of the already sharp looking car. Additionally it features new 16-inch Premia black alloy wheels, blackened front grille and a sporty rear spoiler and black exterior mirrors. As it is a limited edition, more features offered are Bi-Xenon Projector headlights, 12-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, panoramic sunroof, Adaptive Frontlight System (AFS) and so forth.The interior also comes with several updates over the standard model.

The petrol Octavia Onyx edition gets a 180 hp 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox while the diesel model has a 143 hp 2.0-litre motor connected to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Safety features such as Anti-Lock Braking (ABS) systems, traction control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) are standard alongside parking sensors and dual-front airbags.
