Skoda Kodiaq Sales Dropped by 52 % In November, New Honda CR-V Effect?

Skoda Kodiaq Sales Dropped by 52 % In November

Skoda Kodiaq registered 52 per negative growth last month and the launch of fifth-generation CR- V could be the reason for it

Skoda Kodiaq is the flagship model of the company in India and the SUV was priced at a premium but still, sales were good. Last month, the Kodiaq registered 52 per cent drop in growth as the company sold 127 units when compared to 267 units same month last year. The reason for negative growth could be the launch of new CR-V.

Honda officially launched the fifth generation CR-V in October and pricing is slightly higher than expected but the company has managed to sell 106 units and registered 405 per cent Year-on-Year growth in November as Honda sold just 21 units of CR-V same month last year. The fourth generation model didn’t come with a diesel engine in India.

The volume in SUV segment is with diesel models as customers prefer the punchy performance along with efficiency over the refinement of petrol engines, which is why the company decided to introduce the diesel model of CR-V in India and the SUV comes with a new 1.6 L diesel engine, which will be shared with upcoming Civic also.

Like most of the other segments, November is also not good for SUV segment also as CR-V sales also went down compared to October and the first month sales of the new model will be always on the higher side thanks to the initial buzz. For the last six months, the sales of Kodiaq is hovering around 150-200 unis per month.
