The Skoda Fabia comes with similarities with the other models like Seat Ibiza and Volkswagen Polo from the same German automobile group. It is underpinned by the old PQ25 platform and uses some bits from Volkswagen’s Modular Transverse Marix architecture as well. The latest update introduced to the Fabia is the new 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol engine capable of churning out 110 hp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque.

The same engine was available under the hood of the Fabia’s bigger sibling Skoda Octavia. This engine replaced the old 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine under the hood of the Fabia. The new engine is capable of pumping out 25 Nm of extra torque compared to the old 1.2-litre motor. Not only that, the new Skoda Fabia appears with 6% improved fuel efficiency.

Interestingly, Skoda Fabia was the only hatchback from the Czech brand in India and it has been discontinued due to the falling sales figure. Now, with the brand aiming to revamp its operations in the domestic market we can hope the automaker brings the new Skoda Fabia here again.
