Skoda Fabia is the second bestselling car of the Czech automaker after Octavia; has been in business since 1999
Czech auto manufacturer Skoda has achieved the feat of rolling out 4,000,000 Fabia since the the beginning of its production back in 1999. Also, the company has crossed another milestone of producing 500,000 units of the third generation model that has been launched during late 2014. The particular 4,000,000th model is a Skoda Fabia wagon in the high-end Monte Carlo trim painted in Moon White theme.
The Skoda Fabia has been the second bestselling car from the brand after Octavia. After being introduced in 1999, the first generation Skoda Fabia went on selling till 2007 and it sold 1,790,000 units across the world. The second generation model was sold between 2007 and 2014 and it achieved a sales mark of 1,710,000 units around the world.
The Skoda Fabia comes with similarities with the other models like Seat Ibiza and Volkswagen Polo from the same German automobile group. It is underpinned by the old PQ25 platform and uses some bits from Volkswagen’s Modular Transverse Marix architecture as well. The latest update introduced to the Fabia is the new 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol engine capable of churning out 110 hp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque.
The same engine was available under the hood of the Fabia’s bigger sibling Skoda Octavia. This engine replaced the old 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine under the hood of the Fabia. The new engine is capable of pumping out 25 Nm of extra torque compared to the old 1.2-litre motor. Not only that, the new Skoda Fabia appears with 6% improved fuel efficiency.

Interestingly, Skoda Fabia was the only hatchback from the Czech brand in India and it has been discontinued due to the falling sales figure. Now, with the brand aiming to revamp its operations in the domestic market we can hope the automaker brings the new Skoda Fabia here again.
