Skoda dealership in Bengaluru sold a regular Skoda to a customer disguising it as Black Edition model
Bengaluru based Skoda dealership Vinayak Skoda has been accused of cheating and selling a customer a locally converted regular Rapid sedan disguising it as a factory condition Rapid Black Edition model. The customer has filed a consumer court case against the dealership and against the Czech auto manufacturer as well for not keeping the retail outlet in control.
As the cheated customer Mr. Suhas Manjunath revealed his ordeal online, he understood that the car is not a genuine Skoda Rapid Black Edition, but a locally converted regular model after getting the delivery. As the customer says, the headlamps of the sedan started malfunctioning soon after the delivery. The high beam and flash were not working.

The customer contacted the dealership to inform the problem and Vinayak Skoda’s senior general manager Mr. Uday Kumar instructed him to visit the service centre. The service centre failed to detect the source of the glitch and asked for 10 days of time to find out the reason of the problem.
After 10 days, when Mr. Manjunath visited the dealership, the technicians said that the internal wiring and programming of the ECU/BCM for the car is same as the regular Rapid, but not the Black Edition model. Thereafter, using the MySkoda app, the customer found that his car is not a Black Edition model, but just a standard Rapid sedan.
The dealership too accepted the foul play and gave an excuse that they didn’t have stock of the Skoda Rapid Black Edition. As the dealership revealed they just swapped the parts between two cars to make the particular model a Black Edition lookalike.
Interestingly, Mr. Manjunath is not the only person who was cheated by Vinayak Skoda. Another customer was cheated in the same manner like him by the same Skoda dealership. Now, it is to be seen, how the automaker that is trying to boost its business in the country, responds to this situation.
