Skoda cars in India will become pricier by 2%-3% depending on model and variant

Skoda is planning to increase pricing of its entire India portfolio from January 1, 2018. In this price revision, Skoda cars are expected to see price hike by 2% – 3% depending on different models and variants. As the Czech automaker is says, the price hike comes as an effect of changing market conditions and various external economic factors.

Presently, Skoda sells five different cars in India that include Rapid, Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq. The Skoda Rapid sits in the highly competitive midsize sedan segment, where it competes with tough rivals like Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento. This sedan is currently priced between Rs. 8.49 lakh and Rs. 13.47 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Skoda Octavia is another interesting sedan from the brand that comes priced between Rs. 15.71 lakh and Rs. 25.49 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It competes with rivals like Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla. The automaker introduced a performance focused version of the car in September that is christened as Octavia RS. Apart from these two models, Superb and Kodiaq are the two other premium offerings in the domestic market.

Skoda Superb sedan is priced between Rs. 25.09 lakh and Rs. 32.41 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Kodiaq arrives as the only SUV on offer from the brand in Indian market at present. It is available at a price tag of Rs. 34.50 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Apart from these, Skoda is also gearing up to bring the Karoq SUV here that will strengthen the auto major’s presence in the premium SUV segment.

There will be another entry level premium SUV from the automaker that will be positioned below Karoq and underpinned by MQB A0 platform. As we reported earlier, Skoda is aiming to become the affordable premium car brand in domestic market. For that, it is emphasising on the low-cost Eco platform that comes as a derivative of the MQB architecture from its parent brand Volkswagen.
