Skoda achieves 1 million sales milestone as the third generation Superb already on sale in India wrapped a total of 1.15 lakh units globally
Czech automaker Skoda has achieved 1 million global sales milestone for the third consecutive year. This success is largely attributed to the third generation Superb sedan’s sales, which has sold 1.15 lakh units around the world from January to November this year. The new Skoda Superb sedan was launched in India in February.
Skoda has achieved this feat a month earlier compared to the period taken in 2015. The Volkswagen group company hopes to continue this momentum in 2017 as well. Skoda’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bernhard Maier has said, the new Kodiaq SUV is going to play an important role in the growth of the brand in near future.
In 2016, the Skoda Superb has seen a total sales of 1,15,000 units between January and November. It is at a 85.2% rise compared to the same period from Jan to Oct in 2015. Apart from the brand’s flagship sedan, the Fabia hatchback and Rapid sedan have also seen significant increase in their sales. These two models have registered 6.7% and 7% growth, while the new Octavia also sold 3.61 lakh units in between January and October this year.
In India, the Skoda Rapid facelift was launched this month. The car came with sharper appearance than before. It dons Skoda’s global design language and expected to play a crucial role in the brand’s future sales progress in the country. Apart from that, the automaker is heavily banking on the Kodiaq SUV, which is expected to launch in India by September next year.
With the Kodiaq, Skoda plans to expand its SUV range globally and in India too. Demands for upmarket SUVs in domestic market have been rising. So, the sharp and stylish looking Kodiaq has a good chance to achieve an impressive sales figure in the country. Also, Skoda will launch the Octavia Black Edition in India next year.
