Simple Energy has now confirmed that the two upcoming electric scooters will carry affordable pricing and they will be positioned below the existing Simple One

Simple Energy has revealed its plans to introduce two new affordable electric scooters in the domestic market in the coming quarter. The announcement comes on the back of electric two-wheeler start-ups expanding their model range by adding new variants of existing scooters. Following the market launch of the Simple One scooter, the deliveries have commenced in a phased manner.

The Bengaluru-based brand has now confirmed that the two upcoming electric scooters will carry affordable pricing and they will be positioned below the existing Simple One, which has the segment-best claimed riding range of 212 km on a single charge. The company has reiterated that the two new zero-emission scooters will be priced attractively for the customers.

It has been noted that the developmental duties are in full swing to bring in the production-ready variants “faster than before”. The new scooters are hoped to make Simple Energy’s portfolio more accessible while “alleviating their range concern”. The battery pack equipped with the Simple One and the upcoming variants meet the highest safety standards.

The Simple One is priced at Rs. 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru) and has garnered over one lakh bookings already. The scooter made its domestic debut nearly two years ago but the brand took a long time to validate it to meet safety standards. It is said to be the fastest electric two-wheeler in the country as it can do zero to 40 kmph in just 2.77 seconds.

It is also the first electric scooter to feature a thermal management system developed in association with IIT-Indore to mitigate thermal runaways. Earlier this year, Simple Energy commenced operations at its Shoolagiri facility in Tamil Nadu and it has an installed capacity of ten lakh units per annum.

The brand has plans to widen its reach across the country as it will have its presence across 40 to 50 cities through 160-180 retail outlets. In recent times, the customer reception of electric two-wheelers has gotten better and to take advantage of the opportunity presented, new models have come in thick and fast.
